At Txakoli Uriarte, our story grows from our connection to the land, working as a family and a winemaking tradition that forms part of Bizkaia’s identity. At our winery in Gamiz-Fika, we make txakoli under the Bizkaiko Txakolina Designation of Origin.
The origins of Txakoli Uriarte go back to the Eguzkitza farmhouse and to a way of working shaped by the vineyard, the family and the passage of time.
More than a txakoli winery in Bizkaia, we are the continuation of a family tradition that has remained alive generation after generation, always connected to the land and the character of our surroundings.
Txakoli is as old as the history of the Basque Country. In Bizkaia, this young, fresh and fruity wine forms part of a winemaking tradition deeply rooted in the region.
At our winery, we make wines under the Bizkaiko Txakolina Designation of Origin, which guarantees their provenance, quality and authenticity.
Our vineyards in Bizkaia lie on south-facing slopes below 300 metres above sea level and close to the coast, in surroundings where the Atlantic climate shapes the character of the grapes.
The north-westerly wind and the warmth of the southerly wind in summer and early autumn encourage ripening, producing fresh, lively wines with personality.
Hondarrabi Zuri, together with Hondarrabi Beltza, is an essential part of our txakolis. The grape harvest is followed by a carefully managed process in the winery, beginning with receiving the grapes, destemming and pressing to obtain the must.
Fermentation, resting in tanks, clarification, filtration and cold stabilisation preserve the wine’s freshness, quality and natural expression.
Every txakoli must pass quality controls that guarantee its authenticity. Qualification tastings, conducted blind by experts, ensure that every batch meets Bizkaiko Txakolina standards.
The result is bright, fresh and balanced wines with an Atlantic personality that reflects the land, the climate and the work carried out in the vineyard and winery.
